Improving and learning new techniques is a part of being a knitter or crocheter. At the Institute, we are always on the lookout for something that will give a neater finish, save time or just make things easier for our knitters and crocheters. Fixing Your Mistakes I (Knit):       1 two hour session      $35

If you love to knit, but are frustrated that you can't fix mistakes or are fearful of doing it, this is the class for you. We will take a look are stitch anatomy and review stitch recognition - they are both key to your success. Counting, Tinking and Ripping are all part of the hands on excercises, as are fixing twisted stitches, dropped stitches, dealing with increases, decreases and mystery holes. You'll come away with greater confidence in your knitting and lots of tips and hints. This class requires pre-work.

Finishing in Style (Knit):                 1 two hour session        $35

Your spent a lot of time on your project, so give it a polished look. From binding off the last stitch, to blocking, weaving in ends, and seaming parts together, we'll give you the tools to make your piece look amazing. Along the way, you'll get tips and hints that will make the whole process easier and less frustrating. This class requires pre-work.

Pattern Reading (Knit):                     1 two hour session        $35

Pattern reading is not difficult, once you understand the grammar and use of punctuation. In this workshop, we'll take a look at a pattern and work through each instruction. From understanding yarn substitution, needle selection and getting started to understanding sentence structure and the use of abbreviations, punctuation and phrasing. You'll be ready to tackle just about any pattern!

Chart Reading Knit:       1 two hour session        $35

What are all those symbols in boxes and what do they mean? Charts are becoming more and more common with knitting patterns, particularly Lace, Cable, Fair Isle and color work. How do you use them? You'll learn how in this 2 hour session on how to read charts. Bring 75 yds worsted weight - light colored yarn and US 8 needles (straight or circular).

Chart Reading Crochet:       1 two hour session        $35
5/12/2018 - 2-4p;  8/11/2018 - 2-4p;  11/10/2018 - 2-4p
What are all those symbols and what do they mean? Charts are becoming more and more common with crochet patterns of all types. How do you use them? You'll learn how in this 2 hour session on how to read charts. Bring 50 yds worsted weight - light colored yarn and a US J hook.


Yarn Substitution (Knit & Crochet):       1 two hour session        $35

You've selected a pattern, but the recommended yarn has been discontinued or is not available. Ok, let's find a substitute. Seems easy, but there are some things you need to look out for. Not all yarns are equal or appropriate for every project.
